A giant handprint fell, but Sun Wukong smashed it with a single staff blow.

"Hey! Now that we're here, you still dare not admit it? Do you really think nobody knows what you did?"

Do you really think that a mere six-eared macaque could truly replace me? Or do you believe that with his help, you could kill me?

Even if you take away my original destiny, so what?

I, Old Sun, am born of heaven and earth. Gods and demons cannot bury me. Who in this world can kill me?"

Sun Wukong's words, like a thunderbolt striking the ground.

Everyone in the room gasped in astonishment, as if they had just heard something incredible.

As for the story of Journey to the West, all the Xia Dynasty knew were just scraps and hearsay.

It is only known that the five disciples and master, after enduring ninety-nine eighty-one hardships, finally obtained the true scriptures from Mount Ling.

At last, his merits were complete and he was given the position of Buddha.

But from what Sun Wukong just said, it seems like that's not the case.

Could there be something else hidden?

Of all the people present, only Chiang Wenming was familiar with Journey to the West and knew the ins and outs of the story.

During the Tang Dynasty, people suffered greatly from both natural and man-made disasters. There were widespread famines, floods, and wars, and bandits roamed freely.

Xuanzang wished to save all beings from suffering, but unfortunately, he never found the right way.

Later, the Guanyin Bodhisattva of Ling Shan Pai came to preach, telling him that in the Western Heaven's Ling Shan, there was Mahayana Buddhism which could save all beings from suffering.

When Xuanzang believed it to be true, he set off alone for Mount Xumi.

Because the journey was long and there were all sorts of mountain spirits and goblins causing trouble, they found four bodyguards for him.

There were the disgraced Sun Wukong who had failed to usurp Heaven, Pigsy who had flirted with Chang'e, the young dragon Ao Yu who had broken celestial laws, and Rolling Shutter who had smashed the Jade Scepter.

Of course, that's the official word.

According to Jiang Wenming's understanding, there is another version.

Sun Wukong was originally the demon king of Flower and Fruit Mountain. Because he refused to be controlled by Heaven, he was taken away by the Black and White Impermanence.

Utterly enraged the heavenly court.

So, the heavenly soldiers and generals were dispatched to besiege Flower Fruit Mountain. As a result, this group of bureaucrats only worked but didn't put in any effort, and was defeated by Sun Wukong and returned in disgrace.

The Heavenly Court, due to face, could only continue to send troops to subdue the rebellion.

So, the unloved Erlang Shen was sent out as the heavenly court couldn't bear the humiliation of their equal strength. They could only ask the Taishang Laojun to intervene.

This is how Sun Wukong was captured.

The emphasis here is not on Erlang Shen defeating Sun Wukong, but on the intervention of the Supreme Laojun.

Who is Taishang Laojun?

One of the Three Pure Ones, a proper saint.

Though people may have caught him, the world isn't just about skill; it's also about the background you have.

This investigation revealed that Sun Wukong was a direct disciple of Patriarch Bodhi.

This identity is considered a third-generation disciple in the Taoist sect, and their status is in no way inferior to the Four Heavenly Emperors of Heaven.

But if everyone's already caught, just letting them go like this, wouldn't that make their Heavenly Court lose face?

Thus, the Supreme Patriarch Laojun, in order to compensate, used the gossip furnace to help Sun Wukong refine his fire eyes and golden body that cannot be destroyed.

This is considered an explanation to Bodhi.

Even the Jade Emperor didn't care, so naturally the other immortals in Heaven wouldn't dare to make things difficult for him.

Thus, the ensuing chaos in the Heavenly Palace came to be.

It's not that nobody can control him, but rather that no one dares to deal with it.

As it happened, the Buddhist sect was preparing to spread their teachings eastward. Therefore, the Jade Emperor sent misfortune westward, causing Buddha to intervene and subdue Sun Wukong.

Although Ru Lai knew this was a trap, he pretended not to in order to get into the East and spread Buddhism.

Otherwise, with his saintly means, dealing with a fledgling junior, why would he need to go through so much trouble?

To appease Bodhi's wrath, he ultimately promised that five hundred years later, he would allow him to participate in the pilgrimage to obtain scriptures. This is a great merit.

Bodhi also intended to hone Sun Wukong's abilities, so he tacitly approved of this matter.

Later on, Sun Wukong protected Tang Sanzang on his journey to retrieve scriptures. Along the way, whenever he encountered injustice, he would unleash a massacre.

This made Ru Lai very unhappy.

He hopes to spread Buddhism along the way through Tang Seng's pilgrimage, and attract followers.

You're welcome, just knocked you out with a single blow.

If he keeps spreading nonsense about Buddhism, how can he tell the world that the sea of suffering is boundless and turning back is the shore.

So he found a six-eared macaque, hoping to deceive everyone and replace Sun Wukong.

Back then, only Di Ting, besides the saints, could discern their identities.

And who is it that listens attentively?

That is the mount of King Ksitigarbha, and also a person in Buddhism.

From the beginning, it was implied that the entire affair was up to the Buddhist temple.

Just like Sun Wukong, the six-eared macaque was born of heaven and earth. Coupled with his own abilities, he was extremely skilled at disguise, so no one discovered him at all.

Even though the Six-Eared Macaque knew he was fake, why did he go to Ling Mountain to prove himself?

You know, there are many more saints in the East than in the West. At the very least, you can ask Bodhidharma to help differentiate them, right?

But no!

He just happened to run to Lingshan Mountain and asked Ru Lai to distinguish it.

Then, the Tathagata took action to help and cooperated with the Six-Eared Macaque to kill Sun Wukong.

Although this scheme was successful in fooling everyone, they hadn't expected that Sun Wukong was actually made from Nüwa's mending stone.

By itself, it already possesses great merit and good fortune.

The primordial spirit cannot be destroyed.

His name is not on the Book of Life and Death, which means he is not within the Three Realms and Five Elements.

Though I killed him, I was unable to destroy his soul.

After thousands of years of reincarnation, he is back!

But this kind of thing, the Tathagata will certainly not admit to.

Because once admitted, it would mean offending both saints at once.

Even he could not bear this cause and effect.

So, when Sun Wukong questioned him, he denied it outright and labeled him as arrogant and rebellious.

Sun Wukong saw that the Buddha was so shameless, and he was immediately furious.

However, before that, he had another question to ask.

That's where his cheap and nasty "saintly" master went!

Although Tang Monk is pedantic, there's one thing that cannot be denied.

That's because he truly treated Sun Wukong and his disciples as family. All four disciples were each more savage than the last, but they were still willing to follow him.

Is it all just for the sake of so-called "enlightenment"?

Of the four brothers, besides Sha Wujing, who else is in high demand?

Is it that Tian Peng, the Marshal of Heaven's Canopy, isn't good enough, or is it that Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, not fragrant anymore? Or perhaps the Third Prince of the West Sea has gotten tired and, being cheap, has let himself be ridden as a horse and painted on walls?

Obviously not!

But it was because of Tang Seng's personal charisma, the compassionate heart he possessed.

In other words, Tang Seng is the white moonlight in the hearts of several of his disciples.

It was precisely because of this that they gave up their former identities and willingly accompanied him on his journey to the West to seek the scriptures.
